246 West End Avenue is one of only two buildings designed on the Westside by the acclaimed architect James E.R. Carpenter, recognized as the creator of the “modern” apartment.  Designed in an amplified Renaissance palazzo style, 246 reflects the architect’s master concept for luxury residences built during the golden age of apartment-house construction. These pioneering principles would prove to influence generations of architects.
